My Story

Hey y’all! I’m Elizabeth (but known to many as “Liz” or “Flake”). I was born and raised in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. Since I was a little girl, I have obsessed over and talked non-stop (literally, non-stop) about weddings and holidays. My love for weddings began when I assisted my mom and aunt in a small, family-owned catering company that later dabbled in wedding cakes (I took cake decorating classes in middle school!). My passion for celebrations and events carried into college when I became the social chair for my sorority and unofficial social chair for all my friends and families that needed help with their events. My college apartment was always styled for the appropriate season or holiday, and I never missed an opportunity to spread cheer.

I have always known that my true calling was event planning and seasonal design. I started a Southern entertaining and holiday blog (TheSeasonedSoutherner.com) in late 2015 while I waited (im)patiently for someone I knew to get engaged and give me my first shot at an official wedding planner. That call came in July 2017 for a wedding of 250 guests at a brand new venue…you can say I started with a bang! It was the most fulfilling experience and I knew I was finally living out my passion.

When I’m not planning weddings and parties or decorating my home for the holidays, I’m usually binge-watching Gilmore Girls, Golden Girls, or Frasier. I’m always cheering on my Tar Heels as I’m a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in Communications. I am also currently serving as vice-chair of the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership Board of Directors. My boyfriend (Kendall) and Maltichon (Bella) are my biggest cheerleaders and are the supporting cast to this business.
